About

Laura Richardson

(You know, the person who made this site)

I write fantasy and commercial fiction, mostly for the mid-grade and young adult markets. You can read some of my early work at another site, Indeterminate Length, where I wrote a mid-grade book in a stream-of-conscious style without editing, explaining some of my choices along the way to help other budding writers understand that having a story is better than having the perfect story when you’re first getting started. Knowing how easy it is to get overwhelmed with editing and editing and eventually overediting, I wanted to help writers just get words on a page.

I grew up in Portland, Oregon, and became hooked on the coffee culture here at the tender age of 20. Soon after being introduced to the mystical world of triple espressos, I started having caffeine-induced creativity spells, writing short story after short story and novel after novel. Even after switching to decaf and less-caffeinated dark roast, I still can’t get the stories out of my head fast enough.

My husband and children suffer the imaginative consequences, being forced to listen to Every.

Single.

Story.

Out.

Loud.

Now my children are starting to dabble in the world of caffeine themselves. Perhaps they will join my creative endeavors one day when they understand. Or at least they might stop cursing at me.
